All About Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds are a great way to add simplistic elegance to your space whilst being a practical window covering option. There is no wonder they are often considered the UK's most popular blind style!

What are Vertical Blinds?

Vertical blinds are made up of several vertical louvres that are linked together by a chain at the bottom of each louvre (however, chainless options are available!). Vertical blinds are operated with a wand - the louvres can be tilted to different angles by twisting the wand, and fully opened, partially opened or fully closed by moving the blinds along the headrail using the wand. You can also choose to have your vertical blinds bunch on the right- or left-hand side, or a centre split so that you can choose whichever is the most convenient for your space! Vertical blinds can also be operated using a cord and chain system, where one tilts the louvres, and one moves them along the headrail.

What are the Benefits of Vertical Blinds?

Vertical blinds are great for all types of windows, especially bi-fold doors, patio doors and large windows. They are an efficient but stylish way to control the light in your room - if you want more/less sunlight in your room you can simply reposition the louvres. Vertical blinds are also a great way to easily control the privacy in your room.

Child Safety

Vertical blinds are completely child safe due to the wand operation system, which is not long enough for inquisitive little hands to reach! If you prefer your blind to be cord and chain operated, legislation introduced in 2014 requires the cord and chain to be more than 1.5 metres from the floor, so it will be completely child safe. The cord and chain can also be fitted to the wall for extra safety.  

Chainless Vertical Blinds

We understand that your four-legged friends may not get on well with chained vertical blinds, which is why we offer a chainless option! This option removes the chains that attach each louvre, creating a neater look and a more pet-friendly blind. Our chainless option is also a great option for doorways where little ones may be walking.
