Why Choose Vertical Blinds

-              Can I have a cord or a wand for my vertical blind?

-              What materials are available for them? –

-              Where is best to install them? They can be installed anywhere but are particularly favoured for large windows and sliding glass doors

-              Ideal for privacy and light control, broad range of colours, materials and styles, many options are durable and long lasting

-          How to choose? – so many materials – tracks ranges, new aluminium

-          How do they work? – two cords – one tilts and the other bunches them to one side – so you can reap all the benefits of the natural sunlight if you wished – the two control cords stay together but the good news is you can place them on either the left or right – whichever is convenient for you! – you can also have a wand – which follows along with your blinds – use it to push and pull your blinds along the window – and twist it to tilt them – very easy! –

-          Child safety – now the good thing about the wand is that they are completely child safe – they are not very long at all so out of reach for curious little hands, but if you’ve had your heart set on Vertical blinds with cords instead – do not worry – a new legislation was introduced back in 2014 which requires these cords to be 1.5m from the floor – and if you so wish, can be fitted to the wall so they are not hanging around!

-          Now if the baby in your life is four-legged and feline, then I’m sure you’ve had nightmares about finding him tangled in the chains that attach Vertical blinds at the bottom – but no fear – we have a solution for you too! Our chainless weights are also available in a variety of colours, keeping your furry friend out of trouble and looking good doing it!

-          Light/practicality – can come in a blackout material but you will get that warm glow coming through – but let’s face it, who doesn’t need a little sunshine in their life? Vertical blinds, like most styles, offer you that perfect balance of light and privacy – giving you a comforting control over your own personal preferences. Semi transparent – standard shading – dim-out - blackout

-          Where do our Vertical blinds come from? – Our man suppliers for these fabrics are Louvolite and Eclipse – they send us the fabrics from a huge variety of options and our professional machine works tirelessly to make sure that the blinds we send you not only look good, but are of incredibly high quality with a neat and tidy finish! So, I know what you’re thinking – you have a theme in your home, you’re after that contemporary, stylish finish that brings the whole house together (Who isn’t, right?). Why should I choose vertical blinds?

You may have heard that Vertical blinds are making their comeback this year, but we’ve got a secret to tell you – they never left! Vertical blinds are still a hugely popular and stylish choice for any home and we’re about to tell you exactly why…

With the huge variety of fabrics, patterns, colours and fixings we have to offer – you can’t go wrong with this style. Vertical blinds are a classy choice no matter how you look at it, they emulate that sleek, elegant finish that we all crave. But remember, it’s not just the fabrics themselves that have to look good, tracks or headrails deserve a makeover too – find out more about that here.

Choosing the Right Vertical Blinds for You

Contrary to the popular theory – size does matter! So, your fabric width options are 89mm or 127mm (roughly 3” or 5”), but if you’re looking to keep to what’s current – 89mm is the one for you as it’s increasingly becoming the most desirable size for Verticals.

The answer is yes – we do have SO much to choose from. How could you ever make the decision? Let us start by throwing a few options out there for you. Now, the most popular materials for Vertical blinds are obviously the classic fabric material which mostly consist of a polyester blend, but Light and Hard PVC are proving to be a gamechanger this year – and they’re super easy to clean!

The list of colours and patterns goes on for miles – but let us name-drop a few of our favourites. You simply can’t go wrong with the classic neutral colours (whites, beiges, creams), but if you’re a vibrant and flamboyant kind of person then your blinds should be too, don’t you think? We have some fantastic reds, purples, greens, yellows etc. and all kinds of beautiful patterns and jacquards to fit any style of décor including a woven patterned blind, which compliments perfectly that rustic, upcycle trend.

Seriously speaking - If safety is a concern for you when it comes to having window dressings in your home, we offer a fire-resistant material ideal for a public setting or for domestic spaces too if that’s what you’re after!

How do Vertical Blinds Work?

There are two options here – again, it’s whatever works best for your home! Firstly, Vertical blinds can be controlled by a cord and a chain – the chain tilts them to your preference, and the cord opens and closes them completely, pulling the verticals to one side in a neat bunch, or back out again. The two controls have got to stick together on the same side, but the good news is, it’s up to you which side you want them! So, if you’ve got a corner table blocking of the right side, have them on the left – easy!

Or, if you’d rather, you can have a wand to control your Vertical blinds. The wand follows along with the blinds and helps you pull them out or bunch them up, and with just a twist of the wand, you can tilt the blinds – magical, right?

If you want to take your Vertical blinds up a notch, some tracks available allow for a motorized control for the tilt. So, what this means is, with just the click of a button you can control the angle of your Vertical blinds via remote – which is also extremely useful if you’re looking to have vertical blinds in an out-of-reach area!

Child Safety

Now another fantastic thing about the wand mechanism, is that it’s completely child safe – it’s not very long so is out of reach for curious little hands! Although, we do understand if your heart is completely set on having cord controls for your Vertical blinds, but you’re worried about child safety. Well, not to worry, a legislation was formed back in 2014 which means that the ends of these cords need to be at least 1.5m above the floor. If that doesn’t quite convince you, there is also the option to fit these cords tightly to the wall – not so tight that you can’t work them, of course, but tight enough that they are safe and secure!

However, if the baby in your life is four legged and feline, then I’m sure you’re concerned about finding him tangled in the chains that attach vertical blinds at the bottom. Do not fear, we try our absolute best to accommodate to all family members – including furry ones. Our range of chainless weights, that fit into the loop at the bottom of Verticals, are not only available in a variety of colours, but are also an equally stylish alternative that keeps your pet out of trouble!

Light and Privacy

This is a lot of choice, we know, but pay attention because we’re about to throw a few more options out there for you. We offer a range of light-intake alternatives – Semi-transparent, standard shading, dim-out or blackout. But let’s talk about blackout for a minute, shall we? That’s the question everyone needs answered. So, the blackout material does not let any light through the fabric itself, however, light can creep in through the sides giving the room that warm glow feel – but let’s face it, who doesn’t need a little sunshine in their life?

Dim-out Verticals deserve a little limelight too – although not as tightly woven as the blackout range – they still work to protect from that pesky sun glare. A fantastic choice for both study and leisure environments.

Just to put a cherry on top of an already mouth-watering cake, not only do Vertical blinds ensure the perfect amount of light in-take for you, but they are also great for privacy in an over-looked room.
