Let’s Get Practical – The Best Blind Styles for Different Rooms

Time to get serious: you’ve picked your style, your fabric and your color – but will it work in the kitchen? The bathroom? Your son’s bedroom? Let’s take a room-by-room tour and talk about it.

We’ve put together a few of our favorites for each room, and some recommendations for which Blinds are better suited to certain conditions – but if we haven’t mentioned a Blind you’re after for a certain Room in the section, you can find more detail about Water/Heat/Solar Fabric Performances in the specific Product Descriptions.

Blinds for Kitchens and Bathrooms

Let’s start with probably the most asked about areas: Kitchens and Bathrooms can slightly limit what Blind Types you can have, due to the Moist Conditions in these environments.

We Don’t Recommend – Roman Blinds or Curtains – due to the soft fabrics of these Blinds, they are much better suited to a lounge area or a place of relaxation as opposed to a Moist Environment, for both Style and Practical purposes. Wooden Blinds are also a don’t for Kitchens and Bathrooms generally; Wood is not suited for Moist Conditions, as the Stains and general structure of the Wood can become distorted.

We Absolutely Recommend – Fauxwood PVC: If you had your heart set on an authentic Wooden look for your Kitchen or Bathroom then look no further than the Fauxwood Venetian Collection – not only does it give you that stunning Wood-effect look but the PVC Material is Water-Resistant! The Choice doesn’t stop there: you must have heard of Vertical Blinds before, right? But did you know about the increasingly popular Light and Hard PVC Verticals? Water-Resistant and available in some fantastic colours, or alternating colours if you’re feeling creative, the PVC Vertical is an absolute Game-Changer this year.

Children’s Bedrooms – Child-safety is hugely important when choosing a Blind style for your little one, so we’ve got a few incredible options for you here: Firstly, the classic Spring-Operated Roller Blind, with no Cords or Chains and available with some great Children’s patterns including Toy Story, Disney and Marvel prints. Or why not try the new Elavate Blind System from Eclipse? It’s Child-Safe by design and has no free-hanging mechanisms – available in Pleated, Honeycomb or Venetian Blind Style.

Nurseries – Be ready for that mid-day nap at any time with a Blackout Performance Blind for your nursery; Blackout material is available for a variety of Blind Styles, but we want to talk about one of our favorites. Pleated or Honeycomb Blinds keep it practical – both are available in Blackout Fabric, but if you’re after optimum darkness, the Honeycomb style is designed to conceal the Holes and Cords in the Fabric giving it that slight edge on Blackout performance.

Adult Bedroom – When it comes to Styling your own bedroom there is just so much to choose from – maybe you’ve already made your mind up! Just incase you haven’t, let us throw another option into the mix. Ever thought about having a Motorised Blind? It sounds very high-tech, doesn’t it? But imagine this, you’ve woken up far too early on your day off work and your Blind is wide open, you’re so comfy and warm, but you can’t get back to sleep with all that light pouring in – what do you do? You pick up your Remote from the bedside table and with the click of a button you’re free from all that unwanted lighting. You can even control your Blinds using your mobile phone with the Smart Controller – the 21st Century is bonkers, and we are completely loving it.

Blinds for Living Rooms

A Popular Choice – Soft furnishings are always a hugely popular choice for Living Rooms and Lounge areas; the sheer comfort and soft touch they bring to every interior gives your Living Room that relaxing vibe that you crave after a hard day of being you.

We highly Recommend – Wooden Venetian Blinds: Living Rooms can generally be the largest open space in the house – with the largest Windows, letting in all kinds of outside temperatures that can ruin your cosy night in. Wood is a natural insulator – which means that it can keep all the nasty Cold outside where it belongs during Winter, or if you’re looking for the opposite effect; a simple and elegant White-Painted Wood will reflect the sunlight, keeping your large open rooms cool during Summer.

Blinds for Study Areas

We Recommend – Computer-friendly materials. Now, you can go for the classic and popular Banlight Roller for your study, which is perfect for areas with Computer or Screen usage. Or, you could combine a Clean and Contemporary look with immense practicality and go for the fantastic Mirage Roller Blind. Mirage Blinds have two layers, front and back, with alternating horizontal Stripes in Sheer and Opaque Fabrics – allowing you to find that Perfect measure of Lighting and Privacy in your Study.

Blinds for Conservatories

We Don’t Recommend – You may know this already – but Wooden and Fauxwood Blinds are not usually recommended for Conservatories. This is due to the constant change in temperature; it can distort the shape of the slats which is definitely not what you want!

We Do Recommend – INTU or Perfect Fit Blinds. INTU and Perfect Fit Blinds are both incredibly easy to Install and are an outstanding Choice for Conservatories. If you don’t know too much about INTU Blinds let us run it by you quickly, INTU Blinds are an alternative to Perfect Fit, but they frame does not protrude as much – and it simply Clicks into place with no holes or screws needed! The Frame of INTU Blinds is available in White, Brown, Silver and Anthracite Grey to match all of those classic conservatory colours!

That concludes our Tour…

We’ve gone Room by Room to tell you a little bit more about the most Popular and Practical Blind styles for each environment – the rest is up to you.
